Ambush Backpack – tactical and smart combat backpack

5 min. reading

The name of this backpack isn’t a coincidence – it reflects the idea of a trap and a sudden, unexpected attack from concealment. The Ambush Backpack is a compact backpack from our Patrol Line, designed for operations on the battlefield.

It’s an integral part of the modular Guardian system and a highly anticipated addition. While our more universal tactical backpacks like the Raccoon Mk2, Ratel Mk2, Guardian Assault, and the Guardian Smallpack meet various needs, the specialized Ambush was created to equip you with everything required for a multi-hour operation – nothing more, nothing less.

Unassuming? Appearances can be deceptive – let’s take a look inside

At first glance, the Ambush looks like a simple EDC backpack with a tactical flair. What makes it perfectly suited for tactical operations? Let us explain.

Let’s start with the spacious main compartment. Its simple, no-frills design offers 14.3 liters of capacity. Inside, there’s a dedicated compartment for a hydration bladder, complete with a hook and loop-secured sleeve and a loop with a buckle for hanging the bladder. You’ll also find a durable mesh zippered pocket for smaller essentials. The main compartment can hold water, food rations, and insulating layers.

Essential gear safe and within reach

The front pocket, located at the top of the backpack, is fully lined with soft velour, making it ideal for carrying optical devices or night vision equipment. This material prevents scratches on delicate items, while the pocket’s placement ensures quick access. On top of the pocket, there’s also a hook and loop panel for personalization.

The lower external compartment is versatile, providing storage for smaller gear. Inside, you’ll find three additional pockets: one zippered mesh pocket and two open slots. Just below the robust zipper are two loops for securing items, ensuring they stay in place during your operation.

Hydration and ammunition at the ready

Now, let’s look at the two permanently attached side pockets. Their long flaps are secured with adjustable buckled straps, and each pocket also features a drawstring closure for extra security. Each pocket can hold a one-liter water bottle, a PK ammunition belt, or four AK or AR magazines.

Above the side pockets, you’ll find MOLLE/PALS webbing, which allows you to attach any compatible pouch you need.

Functional extra space

Looking at the Ambush from above, remember its hidden bottom pocket. Inside is a stowable beavertail that, when deployed, attaches to the backpack with two buckles. This feature allows you to carry a helmet, spare or wet clothing, a camouflage poncho, or even the entire Leaf Ghillie Set securely and comfortably.

The bottom pocket also includes elastic paracord loops for carrying additional gear underneath the backpack.

Practical and ergonomic carrying system

The Ambush Backpack features comfortable, contoured shoulder straps and a padded back panel for maximum comfort, even with heavier loads. The shoulder straps are equipped with a quick-release system, and for added stability, you’ll find adjustable hip and chest straps.

Durable and compact – what more do you need?

With a total capacity of 22.8 liters, including the main compartment and external pockets, this tactical backpack is ready to hold all your essential gear. Made entirely from 500D Cordura, it’s waterproof and exceptionally mechanically damage-resistant. It’s also available in various colors and patterns, including Multicam® and PL Woodland, allowing you to match it perfectly with your camouflage.
